today i saw a preview for "knowing"

let it be known.
there is only one movie ONE! that nicolas cage has been bearable in...

... and that's basically because moonstruck's awesomeness eclipses the cage's weirdness.

so i ask you... HOW is he still making movies? who is his fan base? WHO?
i demand an answer.

Seriously. He gives me the eebie jeebies. I still have weird City of Angels nightmares every once in a while. Moonstruck, however, I also adore. But it has nothing to do with Nicolas Cage. In fact, I often picture a different actor in his place when I watch.

I hate his voice, it's so monotone and annoying!

What about "Matchstick Men"?

Here's the thing with Nick Cage. I am not a fan of him, per se. But for some strange reason, he's in good movies. How can I like his movies and hate him? I don't know. But that's how it is with me. He is a little creepy.

I can see why people don't like Nicolas Cage, but he escapes my "avoid-any-movies-he's-in-at-all-cost" list due to his presence in a couple of movies that I really dig; like Raising Arizona and Adaptation. And I'm with Matt, I dug Matchstick Men, but I chalk that up to more of Sam Rockwell's presence than Mr. Cage's. He's kind of like Bruce Willis to me. I try to overlook the long, long list of terrible, terrible movies he's been in and conveniently remember only the ones that I really liked. So I guess the best compliment that I can give is that he doesn't ruin good material and is bearable to watch if necessary.

Moonstruck is my favorite movie in the entire universe. I'm at work so I can't watch that video, but I'm really hoping that it is the "CHRISSY BRING ME THE BIG KNIFE" scene because I can recite that scene entirely from memory.

"I DON'T CARE! I AINT NO FREAKIN MONUMENT OF JUSTICE!! I LOST MY HAND! I LOST MY BRIDE! JOHNNY HAS HIS HAND. JOHNNY HAS HIS BRIDE. YOU WANT ME TO TAKE MY HEARTACHE, PUT IT AWAY AND FORGET?!"

I'm also a fan of the scene towards the end where he tells her that "we aren't here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. We are here to ruin ourselves and break our hearts and love the wrong people AND DIE!"

It breaks my heart because he is so awkward and adorable in that movie (him in that tuxedo and scarf?!) and now all I see are veneers and hair plugs.

For shame, Nick, for shame.

He is remarkably annoying. What's with the hair plugs and fake teeth? Okay, I understand the need for fake teeth. But the hair plugs are obvious. Raising Arizona is one of my all time faves.

I agree that Raising Arizona Nic Coppola is pretty good too.

I think it's because Cher was in it. She brought out the best in him. Oh, and Cher is (kinda) from Fresno, so I might be a bit biased.
