You know I have a little boy that would love to keep you around, and I think you're pretty cool too!

That's a tough one to pass up. One thing it does for you is raise your "Market Price." In other words the next job you go to almost immediately has to start at that new set price. That's a nice thing to have under your belt. It's also a nice thing for future employers to see that you were with them for a long time and that they did everything they could to keep you around.

Well, if I was making $1 an hour to begin with an was now making $6 I would stay. Even going from 15 to 20. But if I was making a million dollars an hour and they raised me 5 bucks I'd walk out right then and there forever.

That's what I'd do. You asked.

more $$$ or not in utah...
more $$$ or not in utah...

it's kind of like the time when I had to choose between asking santa for a Ninja Turtle action figure and looking like a fool in front of my friends, or NOT asking and maintaining my cool exterior.

That's rough. Tell them you need more incentive. Like a car and an expense account.

depends on what percentage that is. if $5/hr is like a 50% raise, then that's pretty sweet.

HOWEVER, if you're a) unhappy, b) unsatisfied, c) underappreciated, d) not motivated, e) not offered growth, then screw em. $5/hr won't change how you feel there. it will simply buy you another triple-decker-double-mocha-half-caf-latte-caramel-diazapan drink.

I call no more writing letters so small that I can barely distinguish them from microbes.

making words small won't make issues go away...

If you can do what you do, but over the internet, then that would be a good option. Programmers do it all the time.

Who really knows what I'm talking about? Who's never left home, who's never struck out?

I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love.

Good jobs are hard to find. Do you get benefits? Bargain with them.

well, since you're my best friend and i'd give my only working kidney for you to stay nearby... i'd vote for you staying and taking the money.

but my opinion might be biased.

chris make a good argument. the fact that you have been promoted looks very good on future resumes or in future interviews. Remeber too that you have a college degree you are worth more. and don't be afraid to ask how you can move up in the company. if you need help being talking your self up, I'll help you.
